Walking Bass Lesson 4
Here's the part where it starts to sound a little like music. The whole idea is take this one step at a time... Patience, my friends. We are now going to syncopate the chords while we walk a bass note on every beat. In our last lesson we learned to play chords on the beat. Now we learn to play them in between the beats. Once again this is set up as an exercise. So even the syncopated chording becomes expected and repetitive. However, isn't that the goal of a study? Once you finish this please begin to combine the lessons to create fresh unpredictable "comping" rhythms. I suggest you listen to pianists and steal their rhythms. But remember to keep that bass line moving in even quarters. Now have FUN!
